When is Southsea Kite Festival 2024?

This years event is yet to have a date, keep an eye out! We'll update this when we know. This free event is located on Southsea Common, it is organised by Portsmouth City Council and The Kite Society of Great Britain.

What date is Victorious Festival 2024?

Victorious Festival is on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of August 2024. A three-day music event held in Southsea, Portsmouth.

When is the Great South Run 2024?

The South coast's biggest running event will take place on Sunday 20th October 2024. Join more than 20,000 people on a 10 mile route passing historic landmarks. You will certainly breathe in lots of sea air, and it is a flat surface - sound like fun?

When will Southsea Coastal Defences be finished?

Construction of Southsea Coastal Defences began in September 2020, it is expected to be completed in 2028.

Is Southsea a sandy beach?

Southsea is a pebble beach, predominately flint shingle and shells, however a stretch of golden sand is exposed at low tide.

Is Southsea Skatepark free?

There is a charge to enter Southsea Skatepark, it is a supervised venue, staff oversee activities to ensure park safety.

Can I make a fire on Southsea beach?

You will find designated areas in and around Southsea signposted as barbecue zones. These are situated across the seafront and the common. Areas around Clarence Pier, Southsea Castle and Southsea Skate Park are classed as red zones (so no open fires are permitted).

Is Southsea worth visiting?

Yes! If you enjoy walks along the beach, sea air and the sound of waves crashing, then Southsea is worth visiting. Southsea has many popular attractions on offer, there is no shortage of things to do and places to see.

Is property in Southsea expensive?

When it comes to buying or renting in Southsea, the south coast of England is known for being a little more expensive. Things like tourism, transport links, warmer weather, higher paid jobs, supply and demand, these all contribute to pushing property prices up. Southsea consists of more terraced houses, flats and semi-detached properties. According to Rightmove (Jan 2023) properties in Southsea had an average sale price of £280,824 in the past year.

Is Southsea beach good for swimming?

Sea swimming at Southsea Beach is lots of fun for all the family, however you should always assess the weather and tides. During peak periods (June to September) Southsea Beach has lifeguards stationed at either side of South Parade Pier. Only competent swimmers should venture out far, always stay safe on the beach, and respect the sea.

What is in Southsea for kids?

There is no shortage of fun for kids in Southsea. You’ve got beach days, local landmarks, activity centres, parks, indoor and outdoor attractions (some paid, some free). Simply head down to the seafront and see for yourself. A walk from Clarence Pier to South Parade Pier will present you with many options, and all that sea air will guarantee your little ones a great night sleep.
