Leyla Sabah Art Exhibition

Southsea Cinema & Arts Centre will host "Falling into the Picture"

This exhibition runs from 18th January to 18th February 2026, and explores painting as more than a finished image. For Sabah, the act of painting is a personal and intuitive process, focused on awareness, presence, and inner development rather than comparison or representation. Her work invites visitors to slow down, engage with colour and form, and experience art as something to feel rather than judge.

Sabah’s approach treats each painting as a living arrangement of movement, rhythm, and balance. Just as people organise their everyday lives through patterns and choices, her paintings reflect a natural ordering of visual language. The result is a body of work that feels open, sincere, and grounded in personal experience.

Creative Workshops

Alongside the exhibition, Leyla Sabah will also be running two creative workshops titled The Pleasure in Scribbling. These sessions are designed to offer a relaxed and accessible way for participants to explore creativity as a form of awareness and self-expression. The workshops will take place on Sunday 25 January and Sunday 15 February, from 2pm to 4pm, with advance booking required.

Art, Philosophy & Personal Development

Leyla Sabah studied painting at Mimar Sinan University and has exhibited internationally, taking part in biennials, fairs, and group exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad. She is also a member of the public art collective Creating Beauty, known for its community and street-based art projects. In addition to her visual work, she has written several books exploring the relationship between art, philosophy, and personal development.

When and Where?

Visitors can view the exhibition at Southsea Cinema & Arts Centre, 1–3 Palmerston Road, Southsea. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm to 7pm.
