A new section of the Southsea Coastal Scheme between the Pyramids and Speakers’ Corner is now open, just in time for Christmas. This latest phase provides improved flood protection and new features for residents and visitors to enjoy.
The extended promenade, which runs from Blue Reef Aquarium to Speakers’ Corner, offers accessible pathways, restored historic shelters, and enhanced lighting. Key features include elevated flood defences designed to protect against a 1-in-200-year flood event, steps down to the beach, and a setback wall for extra protection. A public art installation called ‘The Windbreaks’ has also been introduced, creating a welcoming space to relax.
